Rickey Bridges Obituary

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Richard Alfred “Rickey” Bridges which occurred suddenly at his home on Sunday, November 28th, 2021.  Born 1957, in Geary, NB, he was the son of the late Henry and Agatha (Malone) Bridges.  Rickey worked as a Mechanic throughout his career.  He enjoyed fixing lawn tractors and had a great sense of humor.  He was set in his ways and “would sooner Schooner”.  Rickey adored his family, especially his daughter Sarah, who was his pride and joy. 

Rickey is survived by his loving and devoted wife Gwendy (Coughlin) of 43 years; daughter Sarah Bridges (Jarryd Milley) of Saint John; brothers Kenny (Lucia) of PEI, Leo (Nanci) of Ontario, Albert (Sam) of PEI, Leonard (Darlene) of PEI; sisters Iva Everett of Ontario, Bernetta Reeves of PEI, Trudy Matheson of PEI, Joyce Dean (Richard) of Saint John, Genevieve Wilson (John) of Ontario, Doreen Dupere of Saint John; brother-in-law Norm Brown of Ontario; sisters-in-law Nancy Gallant of PEI, Sue Milligan (Roddy) of PEI, Lori Coughlin (Lori) of Florida, Isobel Coughlin of PEI; father-in-law Bob Coughlin (Janet) of PEI; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.  Along with his parents, Rickey was predeceased by his son Joseph Edward, daughter Laurie Marie, brothers Harold and Justin, sister Diane, mother-in-law Gladys and brothers-in-law Bruce, Rudolphe and Henry. 

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Thursday, December 2nd from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.  A Funeral Service will take place from the Fundy Funeral Home chapel on Friday, December 3rd at 2 p.m.  Due to COVID-19 health measures placed on indoor gatherings, all those 12 and older attending the visitation or funeral will be required to wear masks, show proof of vaccination and a piece of government issued ID. A private family interment will take place at a later date.  Donations in memory of Rickey may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, COPD Foundation or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
