Richard Larry Comer Obituary

Richard Larry Comer, 72 of Port Deposit, MD, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Perry Point VA Medical Center, Perry Point, MD.

He was born in Havre de Grace, MD, on March 23, 1949.

Larry served his country proudly during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Navy.  He was part of the first crew on the USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67).

Larry was self-employed for 20 years as a brick and block mason.  He was well known in the county for the quality of his work and was very proud of each job he completed.  He then went to work as a sheet metal fabricator for Fairfield Mechanical, Lititz, PA, retiring after 18 years of service.

He was a member of American Legion Mason Dixon Post 194, Rising Sun, MD.  He attended North East Methodist Church, North East, MD.  He enjoyed anything to do with trains and the railroad. But the light of his life was his granddaughter, Emily Faith and he loved her with all his heart.

Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years: Brenda (Riddle) Comer; one son: Richard Larry Comer, Jr. (Martha Ann Cook) of Elkton, MD; his mother: Rose Mary (Lewis) Comer of MT; his granddaughter: Emily Faith Comer; his sister-in-law: Patty (Jeff), to whom he was a father figure; his special sister-in-law: Connie (Tom); three brother-in-laws who thought of him as a brother: Mo (Lori), Bill (Maria) and Steve (Gina); his uncle: Robert Lewis(Barbara); and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his father: Bryan Comer; and brother: George Jenkins.
