Faythe Elizabeth Drewelow, age 79, of New Hampton, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Monday, November 29, 2021 at Linn Haven Rehab and Healthcare. Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton with Rev. Kevin Frey presiding. Interment will follow at the Boyd Cemetery with Bri Zabel, Morgan Zabel, Alex Burke, Hayley Hugeback, Logan Burke, Nic Zabel and Michael Drewelow serving as pallbearers. Friends may greet the family from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 3, 2021 at Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory in New Hampton. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Faythe was born on March 7, 1942, to Richard and Geneva (Lovgren) Bohmbach in Red Wing, Minnesota, and her family lived in Red Wing and Amery, Wisconsin, before moving to Fredericksburg. She attended Fredericksburg High School, where she played basketball, marched with the band and helped her parents after school in the cafe they owned before graduating with the Class of 1960. During Dairy Days one year, she met Harvey Drewelow, who saw Faythe walk by and told his buddies “that’s quite a gal.” A few hours later, they were dancing together and the spark for a lifelong love affair had been lit. The couple was married on Aug. 21, 1960, and the family grew to include four children — Lori, Lennie, Dawn and Bill. The Drewelow kids had a mother who loved them and all of God’s creatures, enjoyed outdoor activities, golfing and bowling and tended the most beautiful flower gardens. Faythe was always there for her children — attending their activities and sporting events, cooking great meals and baking the best treats. The Drewelows lived on a farm near Boyd, and the welcome mat at their home read “dogs welcome; people tolerated,” but that was only half true because Faythe had many friends and loved socializing throughout her life. She and Harvey belonged to a neighborhood card club, and Faythe also loved her “girls card club,” where she, like her friends, enjoyed great camaraderie but always played and loved to win! Faythe worked for Bisel’s Four Seasons Clothing for several years in the 1980s, and after the store closed, she worked at Duffy’s clothing Store in Charles City in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and she loved putting on modeling shows during that time frame. She also was hired to perform as “Mother of the Bride” during a Tide laundry detergent commercial that was shot at the Boyd Lutheran Church and aired nationally. She was a wonderfully supportive grandmother to her seven grandchildren. Faythe and Harvey rarely missed any of their events or games; in fact, they traveled throughout the country to watch them compete in various AAU tournaments. Then again, the couple loved to travel. Faythe and Harvey were always up for an adventure, and some of their favorite trips included journeys to the Panama Canal, Virgin Islands, Alaska and Hawaii. As much as she loved to get away, her family and her pets always had her heart. Her heart was filled with joy in 2020 when her first great-grandchild — Mila — was born. In addition to her card clubs, Faythe was also an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was a member of her circle, participated in various Bible studies, sang in the choir and also played in the bell choir. She lived a long and remarkable life. Like we said, she loved all God’s creatures, and as one of her granddaughters so succinctly put it, “every animal in Heaven is officially spoiled” now that Faythe is there. She leaves a beautiful family — her husband of 61 years, four great kids, seven beautiful grandchildren and one treasured great-granddaughter — but they are comforted by the fact that Faythe’s faith tells them she is in a much better place and that they will get to see that beautiful smile again one day. Faythe is survived by her husband Harvey Drewelow of New Hampton, IA; two sons, Lennie (Melissa) Drewelow of New Hampton, IA, Bill (Terri) Drewelow of Fredericksburg, IA; two daughters, Lori (Russ) Zabel of Northfield, MN, Dawn (Chris) Cain of New Hampton, IA; seven grandchildren; Bri Zabel, Morgan Zabel, Alex Burke, Hayley (Andy) Hugeback, Logan Burke, Nic Zabel, Michael Drewelow; one great-granddaughter, Mila Hugeback; two sisters, Charmone Fisher of Zimmerman, MN, Nancy (Rick) Taylor of Osseo, MN; many nieces and nephews; three grand-puppies, Molly, Rocky and Peanut. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Catherine in infancy; one brother, Ronald Bohmbach; one brother-in-law, Don Fisher.
