Rose Marie Reynolds Girlinghouse

Rose Marie Reynolds Girlinghouse died peacefully on Friday, November 26, 2021 in Ft. Smith Arkansas after a brief illness. She was 94 years old. She was born January 16, 1927 in Anson, Texas to Grace Elizabeth Smith Reynolds and John Calvin Reynolds, but spend most of her life in Pineville, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her parents and beloved husband of 52 years, John Newman Girlinghouse. Rose is survived by a son, Dr. Ron Girlinghouse of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; daughter, Jan Girlinghouse Oreck (David) of New Orleans, Louisiana; 4 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and one great great grandson. Also mourning her passing is a sister, Wynn Reynolds Doyle; one brother Gary Reynolds, and many nieces and nephews. Rose taught school for 32 years and volunteered at Rapides General Hospital for over 40 years. She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church, Pineville, and a proud member of Alpha Delta Kappa, an International Honorary Organization of women educators. Visitation will be held at Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Pineville, Louisiana on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 from 9 a.m. until shortly before time of services at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Dr. C. Stewart Holloway will lead the services. Interment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Pineville under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Pineville. Pallbearers will be Lynn Cavanaugh, Mike Peavy, Ray Doucet, Harry Ingalls, Ferd Smith, and Jimmy Williamson. Honorary Pallbearer will be Allen Nichols. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Boudreaux Animal Rescue Krew (BARK), P.O. Box 404, Tioga, LA 71477.
