Juanita Kay Shamer, 78, of Westminster, MD, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Northwest Hospital in Randallstown.  Born July 1, 1943 in Shippensburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Sarah (Basore) Kegerreis.  She was the wife of the late Rev. Richard “Rick” Shamer.  He passed in August of this year.

Juanita was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.  She enjoyed family gatherings at the holidays, especially Christmas, and caring for her home and family.

Surviving are her three sons, John R. Shamer and wife Glenda of Hanover, PA, Kent L. Shamer of Westminster, and Mark A. Shamer and wife Rachel of Royal Palm Beach, FL; brothers, Steve Kegerreis and wife Bonnie of Manchester, and Jody Kegerreis and wife Kim of Chambersburg, PA; and 4 grandchildren, Justin Carhart and wife Chelsea, and Rebecca, Amelia, and Elizabeth Shamer of Green River, WY.  In addition to her husband Rick, she was predeceased by her sister, Bonnie Shamer.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis St., Westminster, MD, with Pastor Carl Strine officiating.  Burial will follow at Patapsco United Methodist Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
