Carla Maples
Carla Marie Maples was born June 15th, 1961 in Littlefield, Texas to Virginia Mae (Weldon) and Lonnie Albert Arter. She passed away Thursday, November 25th, 2021 in Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 60 years, 5 months and 10 days. Carla spent her childhood in Eldorado, Oklahoma where she attended school graduating in 1979. Shortly after graduation she was married to Kem David Maples on May 28th, 1979. To this union 2 daughters were born, Cherity and Jennifer. Her focus was her family and caring for her daughters and being a stay at home mother. They moved to the Burns Flat area in the 80's where Carla found employment with the Cordell Christian Home as a nurses aide. Through her work she found a passion for caring for others in the healthcare industry and in the early 90's obtained her nursing degree from Western Oklahoma Technology Center. After obtaining her LPN she worked at Clinton Regional Hospital and also various other doctors. In 2011 she retired and enjoyed spending time with her children and especially her grandchildren. She preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Teena Emmons. Carla is survived by her husband, Kem, of the home; 2 daughters, Cherity Maples and husband, Michael Salas, Burns Flat, OK and Jennifer Maples and husband, Jason Salas, Pampa, TX; 8 grandchildren, Andrew Maples and wife, Destiny, Alazay Maples and fiance`, Alexis Wheeler, Addison Maples, Raiden Salas, Emberlyn Salas, Lilly Salas, Xavier Salas, Christopher Lopez; 8 siblings, David Arter, Wanda Hamersley, Kenneth Arter, Joey Arter, Shirley Maples, Joy Mae McDonald, Butch Arter and Connie Snyder; extended family, Kenny Crisp and wife, Beverly and Keith Maples and wife, Shirley and a host of other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at the Living Waters Assembly of God in Burns Flat, officiated by Pastor Dwight Shephard.
