Susan Therese Wolek

On November 25, 2021, Susan Therese Wolek passed away at the age of 74, with her family at her side. Susan was born in Chicago, Il in what is now famously called "Bucktown" She attended Pulaski grammar school, and Josephinum high school in Chicago. She went on to attend and graduate from Northern Il University in Dekalb, Il, and was awarded her B.A. in Elementary Education in 1969. She taught 5th grade for four years at St. Peter Canisus Catholic elementary school in Chicago when she gave birth to her son Brian in 1973. Sue and family moved to Glendale AZ in 1977 to be near her parents who had moved to Phoenix a few years earlier. While raising Brian, Sue was a substitute teacher in the Peoria Unified school district for 10 years. She also was assistant director, and then director at a Glendale nonprofit, "Glendale Family Development Center” for 10 years. Sue belonged to St Raphael Catholic Church in Glendale for the entire time she lived in Glendale. Among her many hobbies, were reading, needlepoint and crochet. Sue was married to Michael for 52 years. She is survived by her husband, Michael, son Brian, daughter-in-law Julie, grandchildren Adam and Brooke, brother Tony, sisters in law Suzanne, Marianne, Juanita, Vickie and brother-in-law Richard. She was preceded in death by her parents Anthony, Helen, Mitch and Lillian, sister Elaine, brother-in-law Tom, grandchildren Wyatt and Wendy. "Come to me” God saw that you were getting tired and a cure was not to be, so He put His arm around you and whispered, "Come to Me.” With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard-working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, "He only takes the best." A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 from 2-3:30 pm with a rosary starting at 3:30 pm. A Funeral Service will follow the rosary at 4:00 pm all at Heritage Funeral Chapel, 6830 W Thunderbird Rd, Peoria AZ 85381.
