Gloria Jane Snowman Dover, New Hampshire Obituary

Gloria Jane Snowman

Gloria Jane Wittke Snowman of Rochester, NH, died unexpectedly on November 27, 2021, due to catastrophic injuries suffered when her car was hit by a multiple DUI offender. Gloria was a beloved special education teacher in the Dover school system, wife, mother, friend to all, animal lover, master quilter and gardener, traveler, and the first one to jump into the pool. She is survived by Bob Snowman, her adored husband of 25 years, daughter Kim of Attleboro, MA, son Bobby of Munich, Germany, brother Glenn, cousins Richard & Janet Glidden, Sarah & Richard DeMink, and scores of children, youth and adults who were blessed by her life. She was born 71 years ago in Chicago, IL to Blanche and Melvin Wittke, who pre-deceased her, along with her sister Gail, born with cerebral palsy, dying tragically when they were both very young. Gloria’s experience growing up with Gail inspired Gloria’s advocacy for people living with special needs and deep enthusiasm for all God’s creation. Following a successful business career, Gloria earned a Master’s Degree in Education and began her true calling as an exceptional special education teacher and mentor to many. Gloria’s winning combination of fun and old-soul wisdom drew people of all ages to her. One of Gloria and Bob’s favorite places was a rustic cabin on Moxie Pond, The Forks, ME, where friends became family, and the best were proclaimed “Moxie Rated”, indicating a shared love for adventure and nature. Our world is poorer for her absence, our lives may be quieter and less filled with joy, yet her legacy remains. We celebrate the life of Gloria and endeavor to love the way she did. An article on her life can be found on the front page of The Foster’s Daily Democrat newpaper, published on 12/2/21. A Go-Fund Me page has been created for expenses: www.gofundme.com/f/please-help-with-glorias-final-expenses.

Gloria will be missed. Her compassion and kindness to others was both remarkable and memorable. To do what Gloria did in special education takes a special person. Bob, my heartfelt condolences go out to you and your family. I always enjoyed working with you and Gloria.

I will always be thankful for Gloria being so welcoming when I first started at Dover Middle School. She was a larger than life figure at the school because of how much of herself she poured in over the years. Her legacy will definitely live on here, and in the lives she... Continue Reading

My heart breaks for you, Bob and family. I enjoyed every minute working with Gloria at DMS. She would do anything for her students. I also sensed the strong bond the two of you had. This is truly shocking and I am so very sorry.

Gloria and I shared many special needs students over the years when I was their science teacher and she was their case manager. There was a particularly nasty parent with an email that began with “Kit Kat”. She would make unfounded accusations that I would forward to Glo... Continue Reading
