Maureen Carol Reilly Obituary

Maureen Reilly, 58, of Portland, CT, passed away Friday, November 26, 2021 at home.

Maureen/Reeny/Mo was born October 1, 1963 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Robert J. Reilly Jr. and M. Eileen (Haldeman) Reilly. She was the youngest of 5. The family of 7 relocated to Portland, CT in 1966, where she lived the rest of her life.

Reeny was the life of the party and always up for an adventure. She made friends everywhere she went and was vehemently loyal to them all. She could see when someone was struggling and was always there to lend an ear, keep a secret and offer support. Her greatest accomplishments were her children whom she was fiercely proud of - always boasting over their latest successes to anyone that would listen. She was also a proud Great-Aunt and enjoyed spending time with her great nieces and nephews whom she played piano with at Sunday Dinners.

Reeny graduated from Portland High School in 1981 where she made many friends, including her lifelong best friend Donna “Nade” Armannsson. After graduation, she worked many jobs that she loved until she became the fulltime caretaker for her beloved parents. Most recently, she worked at Walgreens in Middletown where she met and befriended many coworkers and customers.

She is survived by her children – Taylor, Drew & Brooke Unikewicz and their partners Kevin, Anthony and Leo; her bonus daughter Holley Hetzel; her sister and closest supporter Kathleen Richards, husband Bill and their children Marli Field (Michael) and Holly Srb (Ben) of Portland, CT and their children – Alexis, Janelle & Ryder and William, Levi, Juliette, Austin & Scarlett; her sister Donna Dumas, husband Ralph of Massachusetts and their children Carrie Conway (Sean) also of Massachusetts and Stephan Dumas (Kate) of Florida and their children Kit & Arya and Lucas & Josiah; her sister Linda Reilly-Blue and son Nicholas of Ivoryton, CT; and her brother Robert J. Reilly III of Georgia.

Family and friends may call on Friday, December 3rd from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church Street, Middletown where masks are required. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The National Alliance on Mental Illness at https://donate.nami.org/MaureenReilly.  To share memories or send condolences, please visit www.doolittlefuneralservice.com.
