Gary Chester Clark Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Gary Chester Clark announce his passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at the age of 75. Gary was born in Minto, NB, on July 22, 1946. He was Son of the late Chester and Elsie (Garish) Clark. Gary was predeceased by his sister Donna.

Gary is survived by his wife Linda of 53 years; his sons Sean (Sandi) and Scot; grandchildren, Madison, Sean Alexander (Bailey), Sarah and Rylan; nieces Vickie and Pam.

Gary lived in St John and later moved back to Minto, where they raised their two sons and he started his own electrical contracting business serving the community of Minto and surrounding area. He shared his love for classic cars and racing with Linda and his sons who still share this same passion to this day. This love of cars led to many family vacations, multiple car shows and Drag racing events. He was a multiple winner of many Car shows including Speed Sport East. Some of his favorite cars were his current 1966 SS Chevelle, his 1957 Chevrolet, his show winning 1964 Nova and of course the drag racing cars he shared with his buddies.

He spent his summers at the cottage on Grand Point where they retired. This was Gary’s place of happiness and he loved to share this with his family and friends. From boating on Grand Lake with the Riff Raff, to the summer parties where you could find him dancing to his favorite classic rock tunes or playing his special keyboard. In the past few years Gary could be found sitting on his deck watch the boaters as they enjoyed the summer sun on grand point and sharing stories of his boating days. Of which there were many.

The fall was a very special time of year for Gary. He enjoyed October 1st which marked the opening of duck camp with his buddies, where they camped on the high wall at the Grand Lake marsh and enjoyed many hunts. Gary and his buddies led the way for many generations of duck hunters and that same tradition continues today. From the cold frigid mornings with his sons in an old boat with a 1957 Johnson outboard, frozen tents, late night fires and of course the duck boat races. Many of Gary’s buddies have already passed, and Gary was looking forward to joining them once again.

He enjoyed the winters snowmobiling with Linda and the crew from the Douglas Harbour snowmobile club. His snowmobile adventures took him from Northern NB to Southern NB and to places in between. He loved the times at Adair’s Wilderness Lodge with the crew and met many new friends from all of his adventures. He loved stopping on the trail for sociable times with friends and telling stories of past adventures.

There will be no visitation as per the family’s wishes and the graveside ceremony will take place in the spring at the Scotchtown Cemetery followed by a celebration of life at Grand Point.

Donations in memory of Gary made to the Parkinson Society would be appreciated.
