Josephine “Josie” Konczal, passed on November 27, 2021. Josie was born in Waterbury, CT, and was raised in Philadelphia, where she married Eugene “Gene” Konczal. After his retirement from the Navy in 1968, Gene and Josie moved their family from Virginia Beach to St Petersburg. Widowed at 44, Josie managed the Exec Building on Pasadena Avenue and worked for Rocklands Entertainment for more than 25 years. Josie was an exercise enthusiast who participated in countless 10K and 5K runs, and she completed a 75-mile bike ride for muscular dystrophy. Forever an adventurer, she travelled with family throughout China, Japan, India, Europe, Cuba, Colorado, and Alaska. Josie is survived by children Lynda, Debby, Michael, Susan, brother Joe, grandchildren Todd, Jennifer, Meghan, Rachelle, and eight great-grandchildren. Josie will be treasured as the bookkeeper who kept Disston Optical prosperous beyond her 92d birthday last month. A beloved member of Elks Lodge 1224, who always said “I never had a bad day in my life,” Josie touched everyone she met.
