<p><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Frederick Henry Brandt, 87, of Manchester, passed away on&nbsp;Sunday, November 28, 2021, at University of Iowa Hospitals &amp; Clinics, Iowa City. &nbsp;He was born on July 3, 1934, in&nbsp;Hinckley, Minnesota, the only son of Henry and Helen (Stumpf) Brandt. Fred was raised and educated in the Hinckley, Minnesota area. After Fred graduated from high school in 1953, he played professional baseball with the Brooklyn&nbsp;Dodgers in Thomasville, Georgia, Hornell, New York, and Kokomo, Indiana where he&nbsp;was the pitcher.&nbsp;</strong></span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>On May 17, 1958, Fred was married to Yvonne Pearson at Hinckley, Minnesota. Four children were born to this union. Fred and Yvonne lived in Waterville, Minnesota for ten years before moving to Manchester in 1968.&nbsp; He was the manager of Great Plains Supply in Manchester and remained in lumber business until his retirement from United Building Supply in 1988.&nbsp;</strong></span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Fred was a long-time member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Manchester. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors.&nbsp; Fred loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.</strong></span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Yvonne Brandt of Manchester; his four children, Kim (Chuck) Ehrlich of Des Moines, Nicole (Dan) Olson of St. Paul, Minnesota, Wade (Janice) Brandt of Manchester, Miles (Amy) Brandt of Holland, Michigan; nine grandchildren, Hannah (Ben McFarland) Ehrlich, Jenifer (Joe Westerberg) Ehrlich, Molly Ehrlich, Keifer (Alex) Olson, Nachelle Olson, Neil (Lauren) Brandt, Kayla (Brian West) Brandt, Madelyn&nbsp;Brandt and Lilly Brandt; and four great-grandchildren, Cody, Ryenne, Cayden and Layne.</strong></span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Fred was preceded in death by his parents.</strong></span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Memorials may be designated to Our Savior Lutheran Church or Camp Courageous</strong></span></span></p>

Frederick Henry Brandt, 87, of Manchester, passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2021, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City.  He was born on July 3, 1934, in Hinckley, Minnesota, the only son of Henry and Helen (Stumpf) Brandt. Fred was raised and educated in the Hinckley, Minnesota area. After Fred graduated from high school in 1953, he played professional baseball with the Brooklyn Dodgers in Thomasville, Georgia, Hornell, New York, and Kokomo, Indiana where he was the pitcher. 

On May 17, 1958, Fred was married to Yvonne Pearson at Hinckley, Minnesota. Four children were born to this union.
