Benjamin Maldonado Sr., 79, beloved husband of the late Ricarda Cana Vasquez Maldonado, died Friday, November 26, 2021 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico on November 15, 1942, son of the late Juan and Maria C. (Santiago) Maldonado, He was a longtime Meriden resident and a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church. Mr. Maldonado was employed by Pratt and Whitney Company from 1979 until his retirement in 2008, after 28 years of service. He enjoyed gardening, carpentry, was an avid bowler and a Boston Red Sox fan. He was an excellent teller of jokes and loved to make friends with everyone. He loved music and enjoyed playing his cuatro and other guitars, especially with his brothers, he was a family man and loved to spend time with his grandchildren. Benjamin is survived by his daughter Diana Rivera and her husband Haroldo, three sons, Benjamin Maldonado Jr. and his wife Lisette, Daniel Maldonado and Ricardo Maldonado and four grandchildren, Anthony Benjamin Maldonado, Jailene Lisette Maldonado, Tomas Daniel Maldonado and Alex Benjamin Maldonado. He is also survived by his siblings, Efrain, Wilfredo, Maria M., and Jorge Luis Maldonado, a sister-in-law, Virginia Torres and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Jose, Luis, Alberto Maldonado and his sister Luminada Maldonado. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, November 29th at the John J. Ferry and Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden from 4 to 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 30th at 12 noon at St. Rose of Lima Church, 35 Center St., Meriden. Everyone is asked to gather directly at the church. Burial will be private.
