<p>Taryn Dean Sumner, age 16, of Florence, SD (son of Linda &amp; Tracy) passed away Friday, November 26, 2021, as a result of an automobile accident near Florence.</p><p><br></p><p>Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am, Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Watertown with Father John Fischer as celebrant.</p><p><br></p><p>Visitation will be from 4-8 pm, with a scripture service at 7:30 pm, on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Watertown.</p><p><br></p><p>Interment will be at Esterly Cemetery near Florence, SD.</p><p><br></p><p>Honorary Pallbearers will be the Class of 2023, Florence-Henry Football Team and Basketball Team.</p><p><br></p><p>Pallbearers will be Kobe Roe, Trent Sumner, Seth, Justin and Jake Bach and Tyler Sumner. </p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the South Dakota School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, 605 14th Ave. SE, Aberdeen, SD 57401.</p><p><br></p><p>Taryn Dean Sumner, son of Tracy and Linda (Roe) Sumner was born on January 10, 2005 in Watertown, SD. He was currently a junior at Florence High School. He lived on the family farm near Medicine Lake and Florence, SD.</p><p><br></p><p>Taryn had a great joy for life and for his Savior, Jesus Christ. He shared that joy with all those around him through his love of faith, family, friends and sports. Taryn's passion for the outdoors included spending time with his family and his beloved dog, Zoey.</p><p><br></p><p>He loved hunting geese, ducks and deer, especially with his dad and grandpa Allan. Taryn also enjoyed fishing in his prized possession-the boat from Uncle Tom, and camping with family at their cabin on Enemy Swim or camping at Memorial Park. </p><p><br></p><p>Any time he could take his brother Taven on a 4-wheeler ride, they were both laughing and happy. When not outdoors, Taryn could be found cheering for his favorite teams on the couch at </p><p>Grandma Marlys'. He enjoyed rooting for the Milwaukee Bucks, the Kentucky Wildcats and the Cincinnati Bengals.</p><p><br></p><p>Taryn's passion was playing for the Florence-Henry Falcons as jersey #11. He loved playing football as a wide receiver/running back. In basketball, he loved shooting hoops with his brother Trallan and sister Mylee. He thrived as a team player in the guard position and was enthusiastically coached by his Uncle Will. Taryn also enjoyed playing golf which was a Sumner family tradition.</p><p><br></p><p>Taryn and his family worshipped at Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Watertown where he was an altar server and attended CCD classes. Taryn just celebrated his Confirmation in the Holy Spirit on May 23, 2021.</p><p><br></p><p>He proudly shared his faith in Jesus Christ with his fellow Falcons through the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Taryn also enjoyed volunteering through acts of charity throughout his community accompanied by his classmates and friends.</p><p><br></p><p>Taryn enjoyed being in school and had many friends, including his girlfriend Reese Schmidt. In 4-H, he loved showing his home raised goats and chickens. He also held the office of Sentinel in his local Florence FFA Chapter.</p><p><br></p><p>Taryn was known for his fabulous hair and for bringing joy to all around him. He had a brilliant sense of humor and was loved by all. Taryn will be remembered for his "will do!", followed by a nod and a smile to his mother whom he loved very much as he would head out the door.</p><p><br></p><p>Taryn offers strength and comfort to his family and friends with his treasured Bible verse, "I can do all things through Christ who Strengthens me." Phillippians 4:13.</p><p><br></p><p>Taryn was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Larry and Pat Sumner; his uncles, Gary and Tim Sumner; and cousins, Tory Sumner and Konner Schleusner.</p><p><br></p><p>Taryn is survived by his parents, Tracy and Linda Sumner and his siblings, Trallan, Mylee and Taven of Florence; his maternal grandparents, Allan and Marlys Roe of Florence; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.</p>
