Thomas R. O’Brien

<p>Whitinsville- Thomas R. O&rsquo;Brien, 90, died peacefully at home on Sat. Nov. 27, 2021.</p> <p>Tom was born Feb. 20, 1931 to Genevieve (McCann) and James O&rsquo;Brien, of Worcester.&nbsp;&nbsp;He graduated from St. John&rsquo;s High School and Worcester State University, where he also received a graduate degree. He was an Army veteran.</p> <p>Tom taught in the Worcester Public Schools for 36 years, retiring from the position of Mathematics Department Head at North High School.&nbsp;&nbsp;He enjoyed his membership in the Worcester Men of Song for over 65 years, where he sang in&nbsp;&nbsp;quartets, including The Razor Sharps and The Mello-Deans.&nbsp;&nbsp;He and his family enjoyed a vacation home at Priscilla Beach, Plymouth.&nbsp;&nbsp;His retirement included many travel destinations in various countries.&nbsp;&nbsp;He traveled with family and friends and developed friendships with lads in his favorite destinations, Ireland, England and Mexico. He also enjoyed Christmas vacations in the Bahamas with family.&nbsp;&nbsp;Tom held memberships in professional and social organizations and served on the Northbridge Finance Committee for many years.</p> <p>He leaves his wife of 60 years, Ann Mulligan O&rsquo;Brien, their daughter Erin Anderson and husband Mark, their son Timothy O&rsquo;Brien and wife Andrea.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;He leaves 3 granddaughters, Katie, Julia, and Emily O&rsquo;Brien as well as his brother James O&rsquo;Brien of Florida.&nbsp;&nbsp;His sister Mary predeceased him.&nbsp;&nbsp;In addition, he leaves 4 nieces and 2 nephews in his O&rsquo;Brien family.&nbsp;&nbsp;He also leaves the many members of his Mulligan family. He will be missed.</p> <p>Jackman Funeral Home,&nbsp;12 Spring St., Whitinsville assisted the family with private funeral and burial arrangements.
