Nicholas J. Campaniolo

Nicholas J. Campaniolo, 96, a life long resident of West Haven was called to heaven on January 28, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his loving wife Grace Mauro Campaniolo. Nick was born March 29, 1920 in New Haven, son of the late Joseph and Anna Bosco Campaniolo. He was a WWII Army veteran and served four years in both Europe and the South Pacific. Nick worked for many years for the former Whitney Blake Co. in Hamden and was a meat cutter at Stop & Shop until his retirement. Following his retirement he worked at Gloria's in Milford at the Deli for many years into his 80's. He loved his family and loved to share stories with all who would listen. He was a people person and was loved by all. Besides his wife of 70 years he is survived by his two daughters, Anita (Michael) Campaniolo Greco of Port Orange, FL and Nancy Campaniolo of West Haven who will be the organist at her father's Funeral Mass, three grandchildren, Michael Nicholas Greco, Cynthia Angela Greco and Sherri Greco Eisengrein, four blessed great grandchildren Nicholas Adam Eisengrein who was named after his great grandfather, Lily Eliza Greco, Zoe Isabel Greco and Michael James Greco. Nick is also survived by his two sisters Lenore Campaniolo and Jean Masi both of West Haven. He was predeceased by brothers, Thomas and Harry Campaniolo and sisters, Carmel Solokian and Elizabeth Costello. His funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 830 Jones Hill Rd., West Haven Thursday morning at 10:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Agnes Church in Milford at 11:00. Interment with military honors will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in West Haven. Friends may call WEDNESDAY from 5:00-8:00 PM.
