Domenico "Domenic" Mercuri

Of Auburndale, passed away peacefully in his home on November 24th, 2021, at the age of 92, with loving family by his side.

Born on June 7, 1929 in Calabria, Italy, Domenic immigrated to the United States in 1955 at the age of 26 and has been a resident of Newton ever since.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years, Pasqualina “Patsy” (Nicolazzo) Mercuri, in 2015.

Domenic is survived by his devoted and loving children; Francesco "Frank" Mercuri and his fiancee’ Josephine Antonellis of Newton and Maria Mercuri Consigli and her husband David Consigli of Newton; his cherished grandchildren, Domenic “Nick”, Taylor and Brooke Mercuri, Sara and Catherine Consigli.

Son of the late Francesco and Maria (Butera) Mercuri. Son-in-Law of the late Gennaro and Giovanna Nicolazzo. Loving brother of the late Giovanna and Raffaele Butera, Giuseppina and the late Michelangelo Mercuri, Pasquale (late) and Anna Mercuri, Angela and the late Domenico Villella, Santo Mercuri, Michelina and Mario Alberico. Brother-in-Law of the late Alfonsina and Giovanni Butera and the late Concetta and Giuseppe Caruso.

Domenic will be missed dearly by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and friends.

Domenic devoted his life to his family and his work; he owned and operated a landscaping business throughout his life and also was the owner and operator of Newton Highlands Liquor Mart with his wife, Patsy. Family was the most important aspect of his life; he loved helping raise his grandchildren and being a significant part of their lives. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening tomatoes in his back yard, manicuring the lawn in his front yard, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services in celebration of Domenic’s life from the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Saturday morning Dec. 4th at 8:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Domenic’s Life at Saint Bernard’s Church, 1529 Washington Street, West Newton at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waltham. Visiting Hours will be held on Friday Dec. 3rd from 3 – 8 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
