Iris Seton-Harris Obituary

In the early morning of November 23, 2021 , Iris Zenovia Seton-Harris (78), succumbed to complications that arose from surgery related to her Parkinson’s disease. She was proceeded in death by her forever love & soul-mate husband, Robert “Bob” (whom she still loved passionately every day since his passing 39+ years ago); her mother Evangelia “Titi”; her daughter Yvonne “E”; her son Will and her husband’s daughter Lawren. Although at the time of her passing Iris was a resident of Florida, she never stopped being a proud New Yorker.

In life, she was Mom to her surviving children Genevieve and Robert (Catherine); Grandma and Great-grandma “Gi-Gi” to a small village amount of cherished grand and great-grandchildren and “Zeni” to her cousins. Iris was passionate about her family and was instrumental in helping to raise both her daughters’ children, being more than just a grandma. She had also recently reconnected with cousins and connected with “newer” family found on Ancestry. Iris was instantly beloved by those she met and thus gathered many to her on her life’s journey. She was enchanting and approachable by all, living life under a rainbow. Surprisingly, one of Iris’s biggest fears was being forgotten after she was gone, but to anyone who met her, no matter how briefly, she was unforgettable. The outpouring of stories, affection and love following her passing have been tremendous.

Iris enjoyed cruising and traveling and saw the world from Rome & Vatican City to Antarctica to The Alamo- even taking a 1000 mile RV trip this year with her son and daughter-in-law (who was also a dear friend). In prior years, she was an avid league bowler, traveling to Nationals and other events with her teammates and family. She enjoyed social gatherings like Kentucky Derby Day with her decorated hats and bus trips to the casino- both events she always managed to win at! It should surprise no one who knew her that she had planned to sky dive for her 80th birthday.

Iris was a compassionate and religious woman as well. She was selfless and generous. She was active in the church, having been a Eucharistic minister in the past and had been studying to provide grief counseling prior to the pandemic.

A Catholic remembrance service will be held at 10am in the chapel at Brookside Cemetery, 425 Engle St, Englewood, NJ, followed by a graveside commitment ceremony at 11am on Dec 2. The family ask that in lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made in the form of donations to Parkinson’s research or a local dog shelter.
