David Llewellyn Applegath

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of David Llewellyn Applegath on Monday, November 22, 2021. David was born in Toronto, Ontario on July 23, 1964. He was 57 years old. After a lengthy battle with cancer, David passed away peacefully at Eagle Ridge Hospital in Port Moody, B.C. We are grateful that his suffering has ended. David leaves to mourn his partner Andrea Lee Walker, brothers John Craig Applegath (married to Jane Reid Thompson), Stewart Wilson Applegath (married to Bell Maureen Fraser), numerous other relatives, extended family and many friends. David was predeceased by his mother Joyce Isabel Applegath (nee Wilson) and father Llewellyn John Applegath. David had a zest for life, lived it the way he wanted, and touched the life of everyone he met. He was a unique individual with a knack for making everyone he talked to feel like they were the most important person in the world. When David got sick and was unable to walk, one of his favourite pastimes was to sit and watch the birds, and other wildlife. He was a radiant light in this world who saw the best in all people. He was a humanitarian and wanted to help all disadvantaged people. David was the kind of person that would literally give the shirt off his back to someone in need. “They say there is a reason, they say time will heal, there is no time or reason that will make this real. Gone are the days we used to share but in my heart you are always there. The gates of memories will never close and I miss you more than anyone knows. Love and miss you every day. Till we meet again.” Author Unknown. David had a wonderful sense of humour and was positive and smiling right up to the end and kept everyone in stitches with his humor, wit and stories. A huge shout out to all the staff and professionals at Eagle Ridge Hospital who brought care, patience and compassion to David’s final days. In lieu of flowers, contributions in David’s name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
