Ardis I. Phillips,101 of Hot Springs Village passed away November 18, 2021. She was born October 15, 1920, to Elwin and Grace (Farr) Wright in Nashua, Iowa. After losing her parents at a young age, Ardis moved to Rochester, MN where she was raised by her aunt, Isabel Farr. Ardis attended Carlton College and graduated from the University of Minnesota. She used her degree to work as a medical technologist before becoming a full-time homemaker and mother. Ardis loved to play bridge, knit, volunteer, and root for the Minnesota Vikings. Ardis was active in AAUW, Chapter BC of P.E.O., and the Women’s Club of Minneapolis. Preceding Ardis in death were her nine brothers and sisters, her husband’s, Donald Phillips and John Phillips and a grandson Jeffery Thumma. She is survived by her daughters Carol (Greg) Thumma, Mary (Glenn) Kramer, grandchildren Corey Thumma, Robert (Kim) Stahly, Laura (Matt) Davis, Paula (Chris) Ankenbauer, Debra Hartig, Kathryn (Ryan) Smith, Charles (Lesley) Schwalje, Jr, and ten great- grandchildren. Ardis was a strong and very kind woman who believed in the importance of a positive attitude. Memorials may be sent to AAUW.org.
