<p>Waynesville, Jerry Lee McClure, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at his residence.</p> <p>A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Norman and Mattie Russell McClure.&nbsp; In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn McClure who died in 2016; son, Greg McClure; two stepsons, Jimmy and Freddy; sister, Katherine; and a brother., Roy.&nbsp; Jerry is a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church.&nbsp; He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching wrestling, NASCAR, gardening, raising chickens and taking care of his three dogs.&nbsp; Jerry was &quot;salt of the earth&quot;.</p> <p>Jerry is survived by a daughter, Anita Walker, and her husband, Keith, of Richmond, Kentucky; a son Terry McClure, and his wife, Deanna, of Waynesville; sister, Bessie Wyatt, of Waynesville; five grandchildren, Brent, Brian, Dusty, Tyler (Kara), and Serenity (Zac); and one great-grandson, Hunter.</p> <p>Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 28, 2021 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend DeWayne Rathbone officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow at Rocky Branch Cemetery.&nbsp; The family will receive friends from 12:30 until service time at the funeral home.&nbsp; Serving as pallbearers will be Keith Thomas, Larry Wyatt, Gary Wyatt, Brian McFalls, Zach Cagle and Brian Cooper.</p> <p>The care of Mr. McClure has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.&nbsp;</p>

Waynesville, Jerry Lee McClure, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at his residence.

A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Norman and Mattie Russell McClure.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn McClure who died in 2016; son, Greg McClure; two stepsons, Jimmy and Freddy; sister, Katherine; and a brother., Roy.  Jerry is a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching wrestling, NASCAR, gardening, raising chickens and taking care of his three dogs.  Jerry was "salt of the earth".
