William W. Macey, Jr., of Weirton, WV, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, under the care of Valley Hospice. He was born in Empire, OH, on November 20, 1925, the son of the late William and Helen Macey. He was 96. William was a 1944 graduate of Toronto High School. He retired from the former Weirton Steel Corporation in 1988, where he worked in the Quality Control Department, Chemical Lab. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church, and the Weirton Steel 25-Year Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sophia B. Kasica Macey in 1997, whom he married July 19, 1952; five sisters: Ann Kelps, Helen McCann, Katherine Shanahan, Mary L. Rodak. And Margaretta Churchman and three brothers: John, Michael, and George Macey. William is survived by his nephew Gerald Macey and second cousin, Sharon Gill. Friends will be received Sunday, November 28 from 3:00 – 6:00 pm at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 am Monday at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 200 Preston Avenue, Weirton, with the Reverend Father Anthony G. Thurston officiating.
