Tedi Jo LoMeli Obituary

TEDI JO LoMELI

June 3, 1969 – November 20, 2021

Salisbury Mills, NY

Tedi Jo LoMeli, of Salisbury Mills, NY entered into eternal rest in the loving arms of her husband and mother on November 20, 2021 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. She was 52 years old.

The daughter of Edward T. Zaback and Carol Whittaker Zaback, Tedi was born on June 3, 1969 in Nyack, NY.

Tedi was a Speech Language Pathologist for the former Horton Medical Center in Middletown, NY and worked in a number of institutions in Orange County and New Jersey.

Tedi graduated Goshen High School and went on to graduate magna cum laude with a Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology from the College of Saint Rose, Albany, NY.

Tedi was a lifelong Equestrian. She grew up training and riding horses at home in Orange County and at her maternal grandparents' ranch in Idaho. Tedi loved her summers in Idaho, climbing and camping in the Rocky Mountains, fishing in Medicine Lodge Creek, and riding in cattle drives, where she earned the respect of cowboys. Tedi had a lifelong love and appreciation of wildlife, nature, her beloved horses, cats and dogs—especially her dog Koti. She loved to swim, walk, run and hike. She treasured the ocean and beaches, her times in Point Pleasant Beach with her parents and most recently her vacations with Bill in Aruba and Turks and Caicos Islands. Tedi, a spiritual person, often referred to nature, especially her beloved Rocky Mountains, as her church.

Tedi was an active and proud member of ASHA American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, the National Rifle Association and the Jason Conklin Memorial Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 957 in Monroe. Tedi was known for her ability to manage, adapt and overcome any and all challenges life put in front of her with undaunted courage, grit, compassion, grace and dignity. There was no mountain too high or river too wide that she could not cross with her beloved husband at her side. Those who have received a card or letter from Tedi appreciate her eloquent and heartfelt writing style. A few years ago during a rash of extreme anti police rhetoric she wrote cards to every department in Orange County wishing them well and thanking them for their service.

Tedi was a steadfast patriot who loved and supported our country, our military and first responders. She played an instrumental role in many fundraisers with her incredible organizational skills and accounting. She was recognized formally for her impeccable accounting by the USMC Scout Sniper Association after a very large fundraising event for SGT. Eddie Ryan. She will be greatly missed.

Tedi is survived by her devoted and loving husband, William “Bill” LoMeli; her mother, Carol Zaback of Campbell Hall; and her sisters: Jodi Zaback of Garden City, SC and Lori Zaback of Campbell Hall. She was predeceased by her father, Edward Zaback.
