Dorothy “Dot” Zeigenfuse, 94, went to be with Our Lord at 12:10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 following a recent hospitalization at Lehigh Valley Schuylkill East Hospital in Pottsville, PA. She was born to the late Harvey Wolongavich and Esther (Metarskie) Wolongavich on September 9, 1927. Dorothy was a lifelong resident of East Cameron Township and attended schools in Doutyville and Shamokin. On May 12, 1945 she married the love of her life, Bernard Zeigenfuse. The two were married for over 63 years and they loved dancing to polkas and golfing. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked at the Ashland Knitting Mill, Ashland, PA, until her retirement. Dorothy loved to spend time visiting with her family, cooking, shopping, decorating for the holidays, traveling, golfing, crocheting, and doing crossword puzzles. She was a member of the Tri-Valley Senior Citizens Association. She was also a faithful member of Christ’s United Lutheran Church, Airport Road, Ashland, PA where, when her health allowed, she was always willing to volunteer. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Cheryl and son-in-law Dale of Shamokin, granddaughter Jennifer Koch of Shamokin, grandson Jeffrey Koch and his wife Nardimar of Dalton, PA, great granddaughter Michaela Snyder and her companion Ryan Freeman of Marietta, GA, great grandson Julian Koch and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband, sister Helen, an infant brother, sister Marie Latsha, niece Patricia Latsha, and her great grandson Louis Koch. Beloved Mom, Grammie, and friend – we will miss you. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Christ’s United Lutheran Church, Airport Rd, Ashland with Rev. Dana Heckman-Beil officiating. Interment will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery, Lavelle. Viewing will be from 10:00-11:00 AM Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christ’s United Lutheran Church. Rothermel-Heizenroth Funeral Services, Mt.Carmel is in charge of services. Ashley D’ Andrea, Supervisor.
