John P. "Johnny" Decker Obituary

Where to begin the legacy of John P. Decker (aka "Johnny"). A strong family man to being a great friend, neighbor, teacher, coach and "prankster". His passion was to share his love of all hobbies including coaching volleyball and baseball, to building and participating in the AmVets Soap Box Derby, allowing quality time with his children. Another passion he had was motor sports. He began racing moto-cross at an early age to now riding his "BA" Harley Davidson Heritage Soft Tail Deluxe. Over the summer he rode his Harley to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally with his son Kyle and two other buds. He had the time of his life. John had a passion for the outdoors including fishing, turkey hunting and spending time at "da" deer camp. He shared his love for the outdoors by mentoring others in turkey hunting and teaching ATV safety classes as a nationally certified instructor. John believed in bringing out the best potential in everyone. Not only was John recognized for his '77 Chevy Silverado which anyone could hear and see throughout the county but to being known for a super wonderful and caring man. He was the go-to guy where if you needed help who were you to call? Johnny. He touched so many people and left an impression on everyone. We are so blessed we had 64 years with him. It may seem like a short time but he lived his life to the fullest. The family and friends will feel a deep loss but at the same time cherish all the wonderful memories. His wish was to have everyone celebrate his life by sharing stories and toasting to his legacy.

Survived by his loving wife Debbie aka “Da Wife”, loving son Kyle aka “The Dude” and daughter-in-law Bre, loving daughter Steph aka “daddy’s girl”, and his grandbabies Greta, Theo, and Zeke – the ones who filled his heart with so much love and joy. Additional survivors include his sister Theresa (Ray) Carviou, his brother Tom Decker, and his sisters-in-law Sandy (Nassar) Shayesteh and Gail Weston. Nieces and nephews including Jamie, Andy, Samantha, Josh, Nathan, Parissa, and Justin.

Non-survivors include his parents Fuzzy and Bert Decker and in-laws Henry and Lydia Jagodinsky.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, November 29, 2021 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand, 1416 Grand Avenue, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Doug LeCaptain with cremation to follow and entombment at the Calvary Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, 818 State Street, Manitowoc on Sunday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Monday at the church from 11:00 AM until the time of Mass at 1:00 PM. There will be a parish prayer service at the funeral home on Sunday at 7:00 PM. In honor of John belonging to Trees of America, the family requests in lieu of flowers and plants to please donate to the Calvary Cemetery & Chapel Mausoleum for a tree in honor of him. Online condolences can be expressed at www.lakeshorefamilyfuneralhomes.com
