Emory E. Martin Waynesboro, Pennsylvania Obituary

Emory E. Martin

Mr. Emory E. Martin, 90, of Polktown Road, Waynesboro, PA, went to be with the Lord Monday, November 22, 2021 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Born December 26, 1930 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Mary (Kretzer) Martin. Emory attended White Oak Forrest School then moving onto Woodland Way School. He married E. Fern Barr on April 5, 1952 at 1st Evangelical United Brethren Church. As a young man, Emory delivered milk for Eden Plains Dairy Farms, Showalters Dairy. He served his country in the 1-W service as equipment manager for the hospital in Finlay, Ohio. Although he was offered a good position at the hospital, he followed his dream to have his own dairy farm. He and his wife bought a farm in Waynesboro, always working hard without ever complaining, and was able to transition the farm to the next generation. Emory had a strong faith in God and was committed to serving God, his church and others. He was a participant in the Gideon’s, distributing Bibles to school students. Along with his wife, he shared the Gospel at Abraxis Youth Center for many years. Emory was a man of few words but it was always a joy to spend time with him. He was a strong man with joy for life and was apt at fixing almost anything. His word was reliable and his love constant and steadfast. He was a faithful husband and father. He lived his life with passion, humor, joy, love, hard work and a grin or shrug of his shoulder. He made a difference. In addition to his wife of over 69 years, he leaves behind four children, Emily Young (Daniel), Jack Martin (Emily), Colette Barnett (Mark) and Jill Sprecher (Tyler); 14 grandchildren, Joshua Young, Ruth Moore (Dave), Jonathan Young, Andrew Young, Jason Martin (Megan), Betsy Martin, Benjamin Barnett (Kelsey), Courtney Barnett, Clay Sprecher (Aly), Camille Saunders (Dave), Chloe Sprecher, Cole Sprecher, Carrie Sprecher and Cooper Sprecher; 11 great-grandchildren, Micah, Luke and Gideon Moore, Jude and Stella Martin, Drewson, Finley, Bodie and Oakley Barnett and Ellis and Haven Sprecher; siblings, James Martin, Norma Jean Bollinger, Genevieve Martin and Stephen Martin; and a host of extended family and friends.
