Dewayne Jackson Jackson, Michigan Obituary

Dewayne Jackson

And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise Luke 23:43 Dewayne Jackson, “D” was born on March 16, 1956, to the late Arthur Lee Jackson Sr. and Louise Jackson Miller in Albion, Michigan. Dewayne accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Albion Michigan. He attended Albion Public Schools. As a youth, he relocated to Grand Rapids, Michigan with his family until he was of legal age to return to his birth city Albion, Michigan. He loved being with his Aunts, Uncles, first cousins, and other family members. It’s always been said that Fathers and daughters have a unique bond. Dewayne and his loving daughter Rakeena had an irreplaceable relationship that was ordained from heaven above. His love for her and his two grandchildren exemplified a legacy of love displayed enough for them to look back at and reminisce of their fond memories shared over the years. He shared a special love with his partner Renee Avant who stood by his side through the good times and hard times as well. When his health began to decline she was his positive anchor always motivating him to hold on to his faith and strength to overcome. She made sure he made it to all appointments and showered him with love and comfort. He was raised with love and had a bond thicker than glue with all his siblings. The first love he ever experienced and held to the day God called him home was the love for his Mother, his truest friend. She taught him his most valued lesson of all, how to love. He rarely missed a day of calling to just hear her voice, talk, joke, and laugh with her. Simply just checking on her to let her know how much he loved her. His love of his grandchildren Kayla and Marcell Jr. who he called “Scoot” is indescribable. He’d smile just to see the little glowing face of Ariah who was very special to him. Dewayne’s words may have gone unspoken to many of his genuine appreciation of his son-in-law Marcell who was more like a son. His treasure of love displayed in his actions always checking in and making sure life was as comfortable as could be for him. Dewayne was so grateful and felt blessed to have him in his family. He was a very neat man who had a special gift from God of being an expert painter in which he had extensive experience painting both interior and exterior properties. He always had an outgoing and dynamic personality. His health disallowed him to continue his love of painting. He held other various employments but painting was his forte. Dewayne definitely was a loving and genuinely funny jokester who loved all that he encountered. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” Revelation21:4 Dewayne departed this life on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at his home in Jackson, Michigan. He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his daughter Rakeena (Marcell) Fowler, grandchildren Kayla and Marcell Jr. Fowler., Ann Arbor, Michigan, partner, Renee Avant, Jackson, Michigan, his mother, Louise Jackson Miller, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, sisters; Angela (Arthur) Roberson, Jacqueline (Raymond) Smith and Miriam Jackson all of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Sandra (David) Morgan of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Faye (Lemeul) Allen of Madison, Mississippi, brothers; Arthur (Doris) Jackson of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Leroy (Theresa) McKelker of Homewood, Illinois, and Malcolm (Panza) Miller of Albion, Michigan. stepdaughters Janea Wade, Jala Lewis, and granddaughter Ariah Draper of Jackson, Michigan. and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
