Verna J. Miller

Verna J. Miller, 96, of Cornell, Wisconsin passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at her home. Born in Cornell, Wisconsin, on March 5, 1925, she was the daughter of Thomas and Anna (Couture) Blanchard. After graduating from Cornell High School, she married Gerald “Jelly” Miller on August 17, 1946 in Boyd. She lived her life in Cornell as a wife and homemaker. Verna loved her Catholic Faith and lived it by serving her Church as a member of the Parish Council of Catholic Women, and taught CCD for over 30 years. She was also Chief Election Clerk for the City of Cornell, and member of the Cornell American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by one son, Roger (Susan) Miller of Salem, Alabama; three daughters, Jane Miller of Cornell, Laura (Dwayne) Mosley of Cornell, Lisa (Drew) Magnuson of Hudson; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, one brother Ken Blanchard of Port Washington, and a sister-in-law, Richard (Jane) Blanchard of Florida. She was proceeded in death by: her husband, Gerald Miller; her parents, Thomas and Anna Blanchard; her sisters Eleanor Hodowanic and Dorothy Peare; and her brothers Leonard, Richard, and Ellsworth Blanchard. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 29, 2021 at 11:00 am at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Eric Linzmaier officiating. Interment will be in the Cornell Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 am – 11:00 am Monday morning at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Verna’s name may be made to Holy Cross Catholic Church, 107 S. 8th Street, Cornell, WI 54732.
