Donna L. Walker Obituary

Donna Lee Walker, loving wife, mother and grandmother,  passed away on November 21,2021.  Donna was born on February 12, 1959 on SAC AFB in Nebraska.  Her father Robert Goar was an Air Force Sergeant and her mother Florence Goar was an office worker and homemaker.  Donna was the eldest of two daughters (Judy Williams).  After spending early years in Nebraska, her father moved the family to Fairbanks Alaska, where Donna began her school years in a 1 room schoolhouse.

Robert retired from the Air Force in 1970 and moved the family to Boise Idaho to work at the Idaho Statesman newspaper. She met James in the church singles group and were married a year later.  James and Donna moved to Denver where they managed an apartment building near Capital Hill while continuing their education.  In 1985,  Donna and James moved to Troy Michigan, where Donna completed her bachelors degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology and achieved her Nuclear Cardiology certification and worked as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist at Detroit Osteopathic Hospital and Harper Hospital.  Donna temporarily suspended her working career to raise two daughters.  In 1995, James took a transfer with his company and moved the family back to the Denver area.

Once daughters were in middle school, Donna went back to work as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist at Good Samaritan Hospital and retired in 2012 when her first grand daughter Vivian was born.  In 2016, Donna arranged the wedding and reception for daughter Emily and her fiance Andrew.  Donna’s life focus has always been on her kids and her grand kids as well as her husband and close friends.   Donna was known for her gift of hospitality.  She was active in Bible studies and fellowship groups.

Donna loved cooking and sewing, photography, camping, off-road Jeeping,  singing in the church choir and  playing in the handbell choir.  Most of all she loved Jesus,  her family and friends and of course, her dogs.  She spent as much time with her granddaughters as was humanly possible.

Donna is survived by her husband of 40 years, James Walker.  Also daughters Jacqueline Walker, Emily Rogers, son-in-law Andrew Rogers and three grand children Vivian, Katie and Olivia.  She will be missed.
