Nazih "Nick" Karrat Obituary

Nazih (Nick) Karrat, age 80, of Whitesboro, NY passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Hackensack Meridian Hospital, Hackensack, NJ with his loving family by his side.

Nazih, son of the late Fouzy and Anna Karrat, was born on February 28, 1941 in Sarhine, Lebanon and came to the United States in 1962, settling in Utica, NY. On January 6, 1964, he married Elizabeth (Betty) Williams. Their marriage was a loving and blessed union of 57 years, admired by all. Nazih was employed with Special Metals Corp. for many years until his retirement. He was a devoted parishioner of St. Louis Gonzaga Church and a member of the Holy Name Society. Nazih was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother whose life centered around his family. He was one of the kindest souls with a heart of gold and an unselfish generosity that was insurmountable.

Surviving is his beloved wife, Betty; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Mary Karrat of Upper Saddle River, NJ and Nicholas and Debra Karrat of Summit, NJ; his cherished grandchildren, Spencer, Austin, Sofia and Preston; two sisters Mona Sageer and Theresa (Gus) Chamoun; four brothers, Elias, Joe, William (Cathy) and Charbel (Beth) Karrat; sisters-in-law Teresa Karrat, Marguerite Black, Rosalie (Dave) Boff and Marylynn Williams; and an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by two brothers, Anthony and George Karrat.

Visiting hours will be Sunday November 28th from 3:00-6:00 pm at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home Inc., 1122 Culver Ave., Utica, with The Hymn of the Departed at 5:30 pm.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Divine Liturgy of the Faithful Departed on Monday at 10:00 am at St. Louis Gonzaga Church, 520 Rutger Street, Utica with the Rev. Fr. Boutros El Hachem officiating. Face masks are required for all services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Louis Gonzaga Church in memory of Nazih. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
