Iona McMillan Obituary

Mrs. Iona McMillan ended her earthly journey and began her heavenly walk on Wednesday, February 08, 2017 after her earthly vessel succumbed to her glorious new body prepared by Christ.

Iona (affectionately known as "Babe" to all who knew and loved her) was born in Olar SC.  She was the fifth of nine children born to the late Mary Hazel Orr Carter and Burns Carter. Three of her sibling were there to greet her in glory: Helen Ford, Shirley Carter, and Nathaniel Carter.

Iona was a very devoted and loving mother and wife. Her husband, Thomas Laurie McMillan along with Marilyn, the third of their eight loving children.

God blessed that union with, were also a part of her welcoming committee on last Wednesday evening in heaven. What a glorious reunion that must have been!!

Iona was a faithful and devoted Christian. Her commitment to God was strong and her faith in Him was evident by the way she always stood on the promises of God, never wavering, never afraid to say what she felt the Lord wanted her to say; to her children, grandchildren, other family members and all those she met in life. She was a dedicated member of the William Chapel Church Family where she, for many years served as the head of the Kitchen Ministry, sang in the Senior Choir, and a member of the Missionary Society and the Cemetery Committee.

Those she leaves longing to join her in glory are: two sons, Clarence Thomas McMillan, Sr. (Annette) and Kenneth Clayward McMillan, Sr. (Nakeitha) of Ehrhardt, SC; five daughters, Shirley Dickerson (James) and Cherrie Murdaugh (Jerry) both of Ehrhardt, SC, Mary Ann Harris of Oceanside, CA, Ethel J.  Chaplin-Burnette (William) of Warner Robins, GA, and Louise Montgomery (Richard) of Moore, Ok; six sisters, RebeccaThomas (Johnny), Rachel Carter McMillan, Mary Thomas (Earnest), Clara Dowling, all of Bamberg, SC, and Magalene Brabham of York, Pennsylvania; one sister in Law Mary Carter of Williston SC; and twenty-four grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren, two great, great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
