ALAN GREGORY BRIGGS was born on February 2, 1955 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Jack and Shirley (Wright) Briggs. He grew up and attended school in Sidney, Iowa, graduating in 1973. Alan was united in marriage to Patricia (Johnson) Briggs on June 14, 1980 in Sidney. Together they raised four children Candice, Angela, Amber, and Henrik. Alan’s love of trucking was apparent from a young age, and he joined the family trucking business after high school making it his life’s work. He forged lifelong friendships and business relationships in the trucking, agriculture, and rodeo communities. Alan was active in the Sons of the American Legion and volunteered annually at the Sidney Rodeo. Alan was first and foremost a family man, known for his smile and a laugh that filled a room. He cared deeply for his community, was a hard worker, and stayed positive and supportive in the face of adversity. Alan was preceded in death by his father Jack Briggs. He is survived by his wife of forty-one years, Patricia; children Candice (Rico) Dunn of Belleville, Illinois; Angela (Levi) George of Cherokee, Iowa; Amber Briggs of Belleville, Illinois, and Henrik Briggs of Maryville, Missouri; Six grandchildren Aya Dunn, Oscar George, Evelyn George, Celeste Dunn, Arden George, and Juniper George; His mother, Shirley, and siblings Gail (Tom) Need, Janet (Tim) Lemrick, and Nancy (Carl) Mutchler and their children. He was loved and will be missed by many; blessed be his memory. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at the United Faith Church in Sidney, IA. There will be a luncheon at the church immediately following the service. There will be a burial of ashes at a later time. Visitation with the family will be 5:00 to 7:00 PM Monday, November 29, 2021 at the Marshall Funeral Chapel in Sidney, IA. A memorial fund has been established.
