Billy Ratliff, 80 years of age of Oakwood, VA, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at his home. Born February 3, 1941 in Mt. Heron, VA, he was the son of the late John P. Ratliff and Mary Catherine Jackson Ratliff. Billy was a former owner/operator of several coal mines, a member of Jerusalem Primitive Baptist Church, enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Elsie McGlothlin, Ethel Russ, Marie Jackson, Mildred Smith and Pauline Brown, brothers Junior, Garcel, Elden, Don and Ira Ratliff. Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-five years, Geneva Addison Ratliff of Oakwood, VA; daughters, Rebecca Street and husband Hershel of Oakwood, VA, Katherine Viers and husband Charles of Oakwood, VA; sons, Gregory Ratliff and wife Frances of Richlands, VA, Jeffery Ratliff and wife Cindy of Cedar Bluff, VA, Keith Ratliff and wife Teresa of Vansant, VA; brother, Eugene “Shorty” Ratliff and wife Connie of Oakwood, VA. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Nita Ratliff of Oakwood, VA, Ann Ratliff of Raven, VA; grandchildren, Christina Bane, Russell Street, Sharlotta Wheeler, Jamey Viers, Chris Viers, Matthew Holden, Ryan Ratliff, Brett Ratliff, Kayla Gamble, Haley Cooper, Jessica Rose, Amy Stiltner, Julie Sexton, nineteen great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral service for Billy Ratliff will be held at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home of Keen Mountain, VA, Sunday, November 28, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Ray Amos officiating. Burial will follow in the Mutter Addison Cemetery in Raven, VA. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons: Russell Street, Jamey Viers, Chris Viers, Matthew Viers, Ryan Ratliff, and Brett Ratliff.
