Douglas Joseph Gunther, Jr. Obituary

Douglas Joseph Gunther, Jr. (aka Superman) passed away on his 52nd birthday Friday, November 19th, 2021. Doug was born in Redlands, California to Douglas Joseph Gunther and Kathleen Elizabeth Adams. Doug learned the art of hard work growing up in a family of construction workers. He graduated from Snowflake High and the “University of Hard Knocks” in California and Arizona before moving to Kennewick as a young man in 1998. A master carpenter, Doug artfully constructed many buildings and housing developments in his life including a beautiful home on the hill for his family. Doug was a retired contractor who built G2 Construction with his former wife Ami and he was extremely proud of its success. He cultivated the G2 Family and they will forever be grateful for the opportunities Doug afforded them. His happy go lucky attitude, smile, determination, compassion, and eternal optimism along with love for his community will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Aside from his trade, Doug enjoyed various hobbies and pastimes including the occasional round of golf with his best buddy Mike Sisemore. Doug created the Annual G2 Golf Tournament in order to give back to his community, it was something he was passionate about and looked forward to every year. He also liked raising chickens and growing vegetables on his mini ranch. Doug thoroughly enjoyed making elaborate breakfasts for his friends and family and had mastered the art of presentation. The many homemade breakfast burritos will be sorely missed by the “early morning” concrete crews. His love of cooking will live on through his daughter Kayla who will continue to make his homemade chili, salsa and banana chocolate chip pancakes. Doug is survived by his only daughter Kayla Marie, his former spouse and business partner Ami, his father Douglas Joseph Gunther Sr., his little furry friend Chloe, his brother Shannon and his sisters Heidi & Melissa. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Anne Marie, his grandfather Harry and his mother Vicki Gunther. Doug wanted the celebration of his life to be a joyous gathering of his friends and family. Therefore, a BBQ style commemoration will be thrown in his honor in the Spring/Summer of 2022. “Vets, Pets, and Kids” were the three groups that Doug was most passionate about supporting. In lieu of flowers, please donate to one of the following charities in his memory. https://www.post34.org/ https://www.popptricities.org/donate/ https://www.safeharborsupportcenter.org/sails-outlet
