Martin H. Alderson, 77, of Washington died Tuesday, November 23, 2021, in Concordia Hospice of Washington, Donnell House.

He was born November 1, 1944 in Meadow Lands, a son of Thomas and Margaret Seman Alderson.

Mr. Alderson attended Chartiers-Houston High School and was a member of its first golf team.

Martin started his working career as a caddy for the Washington Country Club. He worked as a machinist for Ball Glass Co. in Washington and Anchor Glass in Winchester, IN and retired as a shift supervisor from Foster Forbes Glass in Milford, MA.

He was a member of the Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal worship site of St. Oscar Romero Parish, Canonsburg Sportsman Club, Bears Club in Meadow Lands and the Houston Independent Club.

Martin enjoyed fishing, hunting, the Pittsburgh Steelers and his 1962 Ford Galaxy 500 with the continental kit. 

Most important was the time he spent with family, watching his children and grandchildren’s sports and special events.

On July 19, 1988, he married Julia Hunley who survives.

Also surviving are five children, Martin Alderson Jr. (Michelle) of Phoenix, AZ,  John Alderson (Stacey) of Lone Pine, Daniel Alderson (Tricia) of Houston, Chante Henze (Joshua) of Pittsburgh and Jennifer Castle (Cody) of Williamstown, WV; seven grandchildren, John, Taylor, Kaci and Kelli Alderson and Cambrie, Carter and Callie Castle; a great grandson, Easton Alderson; two brothers, Thomas Alderson Jr. and Franklin “Archie” Alderson (Dolly) both of Washington; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a sister, Margaret DeRosa; and a brother, Joseph Alderson.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 29, 2021 in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Worship Site of St. Oscar Romero Parish, 535 Pike St., Meadow Lands, PA 15347.   Interment will be private.  The family asks that everyone please meet at the church.
