<p>Carrie Franklin Varnado, age 101, entered Heaven’s Gates on Tuesday, November 16, 2021. She was born in Bunkie, LA and at a very early age, moved to New Orleans, LA. Carrie was a member at Franklin Avenue Baptist Church, Pastored by Fred J. Luter, Jr.</p><p>She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Leontine Franklin and John F. Franklin, Sr; three sons, Obie Varnado, Sr., Larry Varnado, Sr. and Hymel Varnado, Sr; Her only brother, John Franklin, Jr; three sisters, Hazel Porter, Mazel Franklin and Jeanette Freeman; great grandchild, Daveion Jones and Godson, Vernon Stallworth. She leaves to cherish precious memories, her only daughter, Pat Varnado Stevenson; three sons ,Bobby Varnado Sr. (Mattie), John Varnado of New Orleans, LA and Nathaniel Franklin of Winnipeg, Canada; Daughters n law, JoAnn Varnado of Chicago, IL, Patricia Brooks Varnado of New Orleans, LA;Goddaughters, Dwan Williams and Kaylyn Madison; best friend, Barbara Bridges of New Orleans, LA and a host of grandchildren,</p><p>great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relative and friends; Pastor, Officers and members of Franklin Avenue Baptist Church are invited to attend the Homegoing service. A Celebration service honoring the life and legacy of the late Mrs. Carrie Franklin Varnado will be held at Franklin Avenue Baptist Church, 8282 I 10 Service Road, New Orleans, LA 70126 on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 10 AM, Pastor Fred J. Luter, Officiating. Interment will take place at Providence Memorial Park, 8200 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA 70003 on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 12 noon. Visitation 9 AM in the church. </p>
