George William Dyche Sr.

George William Dyche, Sr., 87, of Escatawpa, MS, passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2021. George was born on March 12, 1934, to the late James William Dyche and Martha Clyde Henderson. Our dad grew up in rural Mississippi and joined the United States Marine Corps in 1952. He re-enlisted after his first tour and when that tour ended, he enlisted in the Army where he served in many different roles, such as: Military Police, Sky Marshall, Recruiter, Squadron Leader, as well as bringing our brave fallen soldiers home. He did multiple tours in Korea and Vietnam, but on his final tour in Korea, he adopted our youngest sibling, Tonie. This rounded out his six children. Dad served our country for about a quarter of a century and then moved to Escatawpa, Mississippi, where he went to work as a Guard at Ingalls Shipbuilding. After his retirement from Ingalls, he opened Escatawpa Quick Stop. As you can see, dad served our family, country, and community. He was a Christian and on November 20th, went to join his wife and heavenly family. In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Peggie Dyche, his sisters, Myrtle Lee Dyche and Dorothy “Dot” Connell, and two great-grandchildren, Robert E. Dycus and infant girl Sayre. He is survived by his children, Sherrie (Bill) Dycus, George (Lydia) Dyche Jr., James R. (Theresa) Dyche, Wanda (Byron) King, Frank (Elizabeth) Dyche, and Tonie (Johnny) Mattina; grandchildren, Pamila (Lee) Ferguson, Billy Dycus, Robert (Brandi) Dycus, George Dyche III, Alex Dyche, Jodi (Jason) Parks, Jami Dyche, Dakota (Kalee) Dyche, James Sayre, Danielle (Jonathon) Morgan, Daphne Eales, Donavon (Sarah) Sayre, Karla (James) Young, Kristina Palmer, Kaylee King, Kimberly (David) Kidwell, Justin (Sarah) Dyche, Landon Mattina, and Courtney (Loren) Gautier; great-grandchildren, Blake (Reene) Druey, Kelsey Druey, Edan Ferguson, Karrington Ferguson, July Ferguson, Kirsten Dycus, McKenna Dycus, Maddox Dycus, Payton Dycus, Elizabeth Copeland, Kaitlyn Copeland, Kyler Johnson, Logan Eales, Mattie Sayre, Phillip Sayre, Anson Sayre, Alyssia Sayre, Jonathon Morgan, James Young, Gabriel Palmer, Abigail Palmer, Isabella Mitchell, Kaylor Mitchell, Kiersten Parks, Jayden Parks, Brody Parks, Alexis Tisler Jaxon Konen, Bryson Dyche, Andrew Dyche, Allison Dyche, Levi Gautier, Ann Gautier, Ava Gautier, Bryson and Jaxon Dyche, Adalyn Sayre, Liam and Grayson Parks, and two soon-to-arrive, Landry Kate Dyche and baby Kidwell; and great-great-grandbaby, Rowen Elizabeth Druey; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. The visitation for George will be held on Monday, November 29, 2021, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Escatawpa, MS. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel beginning at 10:30 a.m. with Dr. Gene Henderson officiating. Interment will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. with his grandsons, Billy Dycus, Jr., Robert Dycus, George Dyche, III, Alex Dyche, Landon Mattina, and Lee Ferguson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be James Sayre, Donavon Sayre, Dakota Dyche, Justin Dyche, and Jonathon Morgan.
