Mark E Thompson Obituary

Mark Edward Thompson, 61, peacefully passed away Sunday, November 21, 2021, with his family by his side after an eight-month battle with cancer. Mark was born on July 29, 1960, to Hardy H. Thompson Sr. and Thelma Louise Thompson in Hartford, CT. He grew up in Hartford. At the age of 19 Mark enlisted in the US Army. After completing boot camp, he served our country honorably for 12 years in the Army National Guard. He settled in New Britain, CT where he and his wife raised their family. In 1981 Mark followed his love of driving into a 45-year career as a professional truck driver working in the environmental field. Among Mark’s many interests he loved fishing, bowling, and riding his motorcycle. Mark inherited his father’s “Do it yourself” spirit and became a true handyman being able to repair cars, make home improvements and renovations. Mark truly enjoyed helping his family by using his skills, and there are many stories in our family of Mark volunteering to help kids and grandkids with their car repairs and homeowner projects. He leaves behind the love of his life, Deborah, who was his beloved wife of 40 years, his daughter Jamie Lynn, her husband Juan DeJesus and their 5 children, Austin, Juni, Jadalyse, Jazmin & Jacqueline and great granddaughter Sage. He also leaves his stepson Randall Jablonecki and his 2 children RJ & Allison. He is also survived by his two brothers Hardy Thompson Jr. (Shirley), and Charles Thompson (Diane). He was predeceased by his parents, and sister Susan Thompson Jimenez. As a loving husband, father, brother, and uncle, one of Mark’s many beloved nieces and nephews shared a tribute that genuinely captures Mark’s character. “You were the strongest, kindest, most generous, big hearted, stubborn big man I’ve ever known. I’ll miss you but I’m glad you’re not suffering anymore. Thank you for all you’ve done over the years.” May he rest in peace. Services will be held on Sunday, November 28th, 2021 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, at Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Avenue, New Britain, CT 06053. Burial will be private.
