Kenny Paige Obituary

Kenny A. Paige was born on September 1, 1943, in Pierce County, North Dakota, the son of Elmer and Ruth (Bollinger) Paige.  He died on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at the Fall River Hospital in Hot Springs, South Dakota at the age of 78 years.

Kenny attended Upham Public schools and graduated from Upham High School in Upham, North Dakota.  He served in the Army National Guard of North Dakota from November 1965 until Feb 1969.  In February 1969 through August 1970, he served in the United States Army, spending some of that time in Germany.

On July 9, 1971, he married Jean Vaske and they had three daughters:  Jody, Jessi, and Misty.  He enjoyed snowmobiling and camping with friends and family.  

Kenny came to work for Golden West in June 1973.  Prior to that he worked as a backhoe and equipment operator for Hutton Contracting out of Towner, ND.  Kenny’s first work assignment with Golden West was in Kadoka, SD where he worked with Pete Blom in taking care of the Wanblee, Kyle, and Long Valley exchanges.  Kenny and family moved to Martin, SD in 1976 where he continued to take care of the Kyle exchange as a foreman.  The last several years before retirement, he coordinated construction activities throughout the area with the various contractors hired by Golden West.  He retired in March 2001 after nearly 28 years of service.

He was a Paid Up for Life member of American Legion Post #240 in Martin, SD where he actively participated in Legion events and was adjutant for several years.

He is survived by daughters Jody (Dave) Pederson, Volga, SD; Jessi Paige, Jackson, MI; and Misty Paige, Denver, CO; his grandson TreVahn and granddaughter Shaelynn, Jackson, MI; his brother Darol Paige, Cedaredge, CO.  Nieces and nephews Alan Hoff, Joanne Brown, Linde Paige, Rita Paige, Charles Paige, Shawn Paige, Mike Paige, Melissa Fecht.  Also, longtime friends Larry Brodehl, Minot, ND and Myron Brodehl, Minot, ND.

Kenny is preceded in death by his father Elmer, mother Ruth, brother Westlie Paige, sister-in-law Minerva Paige, and sister Ruby Paige.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 30, 2021, 10:30 AM at the American Legion in Martin, SD. Visitation will be held Monday, November 29, 2021, from 5 to 7 PM at Bennett County Funeral Service, Martin, SD. Burial will be held at Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, SD, on December 1, 2021, 10:00 AM.
