Carol Ann Nettleton Meriden, Connecticut Obituary

Carol Ann Nettleton

Carol Ann Nettleton, 74, loving wife of 53 years to James Frank Nettleton, passed away suddenly from complications due to breast cancer on Tuesday, November 23 at Midstate Medical Center. Carol was born in Meriden on January 26, 1947, the daughter of the late James L. Niland and Lucibelle Carofino Niland. Carol resided in Meriden her entire life. She was a graduate of Platt High School and attended Middlesex Community College. Carol worked in Human Resources at both the Iron Workers Local 15 & 424 Fund Office and at Yankee Gas. After retirement, Carol found herself working at The Ceneviva Law Firm. Early in Carol’s life she survived the challenge of being a single when Jim was drafted into the Vietnam War. Carol had many lifelong friends that she loved dearly and has numerous family and extended family members that stretch from Maine to Florida. When Carol wasn’t in Meriden, she enjoyed spending time at Lake Hayward in East Haddam, there she would sew, plant flowers, spend time with her family and extended family, but mostly spend time with her four beloved grandchildren. There was always love and laughter when she was with family, and she worked hard to make everyone feel special. When Carol was in Meriden, she found herself sewing and playing Ma Jong with her group of close friends, all the while attending the endless activities or sporting events that all the grandchildren were involved with. Carol touched so many people’s lives in a positive way and had many different circles of close friends that she loved to be with. At Christmas time her house turned into Santa’s village where it was always full of friends and family and an abundance of her delicious homemade food. She was always quick with a smile and would always try to find the good in people, all the while reminding everyone how important family is. She will be forever missed. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two sons, Jim and his wife, Pamela, and Marc and his wife, Jennifer: four grandchildren, Caroline, Conner, Marc, Calli and her two cats “Mac and Cheese”. Carol is also survived by her two brothers, James L Niland II and Jay T Niland. Carol was predeceased by her brother Thomas Niland. Everyone is invited to calling hours on Saturday, December 11 from 9 to 12 p.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Burial is private. Masks are required. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The St Jude Foundation. For online condolences, visit jferryfh.com.
