Theresa K. Polaske, 83, of Berlin Connecticut, passed away on Monday, November 22, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, with her family by her side. She was born in New Britain, CT and later moved to Kensington to raise her family. She met the love of her life and married her husband Ronald Thomas Polaske in 1958 and would have celebrated their 63rd anniversary on November 27th of this year. She graduated from New Britain High School and went on to be a Legal Secretary for years before moving on to become the Marketing Coordinator for the Maguire Group in New Britain, CT. She later led the marketing group for vanZelm, Heywood, and Shadford in West Hartford as the Marketing Manager. Teri was the President of the Society of Marketing Professionals (SMPS) as well as the President of the Women’s Auxiliary of New Britain General Hospital. She had a deep faith and was an active member of St. Paul’s parish in Kensington, a member of the Ladies Guild, and taught religion at St Paul’s Church to both her children and grandchildren. Teri loved the beach and her summer home in Westerly, Rhode Island, where she and her husband Ron welcomed their children and grandchildren, building a lifetime of memories. She was a mother who was always there, loving and supporting her family, and that love only seemed to multiply when she had grandchildren. She was involved in all of her grandchildren’s lives and had a special and unique relationship with each one. Teri loved flowers and spent endless hours in her garden. She was a master seamstress who made her own clothes, beautiful draperies, pillows and made countless Halloween costumes. She cherished the holidays where she was able to spend time surrounded by and feeding her loving family. Her favorite cocktail was a bourbon Old Fashion, her favorite color was blue, and she loved the Polish holiday traditions. Teri leaves behind her beloved children, Ronald Polaske and his wife Kathleen Sheerin Polaske of Dennis, MA, Lisa P. McCurdy and her husband Craig of Newport, RI. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren, Thomas Polaske and his wife Melissa of Boston, MA, Spencer Polaske and his wife Kelsey of Stamford CT, Eric McCurdy of Colchester, CT, Theresa Cecilia (Tess) McCurdy and her fiancé David Blauzvern of Boston, MA, and Quinn Mccurdy and Sebastian Camacho of New York, NY. She also leaves her sister and best friend, Dorothy Salvio and her husband Louis of New Britain, CT, her brother-in-law Eugene Polaske and his late wife Mona and sister-in-law Dorothy Zaleski. She was predeceased by her parents, Stanley and Cecilia Kowalewski of New Britain, CT. She was our Rockstar and will be missed beyond measure. Some of Teri’s last words were, “I’m happy, be happy, keep laughing.” Wonderful words to live by. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, November 29, 2021, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul Church, 461 Alling St., Berlin. Family and friends may call on Sunday, November 28, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Burritt Hill, 332 Burritt St., New Britain. Teri will be lovingly laid to rest in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain, CT.
