Dennis J. Vandevander

Dennis J. Vandevander, 66, of Bellwood, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning, November 23, 2021 at his home. He was born December 21, 1954 in Altoona, son of the late Leonard B. and Elizabeth M. (Shaner) Vandevander. On April 23, 1977, he married Robin L. Becker at Trinity United Methodist Church, Bellwood. Surviving are his wife; three sons, Michael (Charlotte) of Chambersburg, Joseph (Jamey) of Bedford, and Jon (Ashley) of Tipton; a daughter, Dana (Joe) Pyzowski of Altoona; nine grandchildren, Finley, Blaine, Emerson, Lily, Adam, Lawson, Kaitlyn, Aria, and Axel; and a brother, Gary (Kathy) of Altoona. He was preceded in death by a brother, Mark A. Dennis was a 1972 graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School and a 1981 graduate of Saint Francis University. He was a US Air Force veteran serving during the Vietnam Era. He retired as a physician’s assistant at HealthSouth, Altoona, and was formerly employed with Dr. Osgood and Mainline Medical. Dennis was a member of Bellwood Eagles where he was currently serving as president. He loved football and baseball, but his greatest joy was spending precious time with his beloved grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm, Monday, Nov. 29, 2021 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood. A funeral service will be held at 11am Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021 at the funeral home with Norman Saylor officiating. Interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood. The family suggests that contributions in Dennis’ memory be made to Wounded Warrior Project PO Box 758516 Topeka, KS 66675-8516
