Obituary

Randel L. "Randy" Mills, 74, of Pleasant Lake, Indiana, died Monday, November 22, 2021, at his residence.

He was born December 5, 1946, in Hicksville, Ohio, to Paul R. Mills and Marion A. (Coles) Opdycke.

Randy was married to Karen L. Parsell for nearly 52 years.

Mr. Mills honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era.

He was a tool and die maker, and had worked at Trans-Guard Industries in Angola and Eagle Picher in Ashley.

Randy enjoyed woodworking by making furniture for his home and for others. Spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, and boating were a highlight to him. He also enjoyed archery.

Surviving are his wife, Karen Mills of Pleasant Lake; three sons, Ben (Sara) Mills of Columbus, Ohio, Brandon (Maria) Mills of Pleasant Lake, and Brad (Christy) Mills of Pleasant Lake; a daughter, Tara (Steve) Walter of Ashley; ten grandchildren, Logan Hughes, Morgan Walter, Kaleb Walter, Addison Walter, Lauren Mills, Elizabeth Newman, Olivia Mills, Alaina Mills, Ava Mills, and Zoey Mills; a brother, Dean (Liz) Opdycke of Fremont; and a sister, Jean Ann Sponhower of Auburn.

Visitation is Sunday, November 28, 2021, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Hudson-Ashley Chapel, 612 North Main Street, Hudson.

A graveside service at Fairfield Cemetery will be held Monday, November 29, 2021, at 10 a.m. with Pastor John Boyonowski of the Pleasant Lake United Methodist Church officiating.

Pallbearers are Ben Mills, Brandon Mills, Brad Mills, Steve Walter, Kaleb Walter, Dean Opdycke, and Tyson Opdycke.

The Hamilton American Legion Post 467 will provide veterans honor guard services.

Preferred memorials may be directed to the Steuben County Cancer Association or the Hamilton American Legion Post 110.
