Bruce

Bruce went to be with the Lord on November 21, 2021, after being diagnosed with Glioblastoma brain cancer on October 2, 2020, Glioblastoma has no known cure. However, he was determined to give this challenge his best fight. He focused on following his doctors' recommendations and prayer. Consequently, God poured out his blessings and mercy and made it possible for Bruce to live like he wasn't really sick until the very end of his life. God gets all the praise and honor for these many blessings. Bruce is predeceased by his father Kenney P Funderburke. He is survived by his mother Bessie, his brother Kirby (spouse Lisa and son Ian), his brother Kent (spouse Judy and daughters Caroline and Lea), his wife and best friend Louise Sheely Funderburke and their nuclear family. This includes their son Ross, his wife Rebecca and their new baby son Evan Bruce, their daughter Erin, and their son James and his son Grey. Bruce was a big believer in teamwork and had a wonderful career with Westvaco, MeadWestvaco, and finally WestRock (all following company mergers). He was very proud of his teams and their enormous contributions to building a Fortune 100 company. He did not believe that great results happened by one individual and that credit must be shared among team members. Bruce was grateful for and encouraged by our ever faithful Sunday School class, the many personal visits, calls, prayers, and acts of kindness as he reconnected with many team members across the world, as well as childhood friends, during this last year. There will be a private family service and scattering of ashes.
