Janet Marie Schippert Madigan, 76, of Neptune, NJ, passed away on November 23, 2021. She dedicated her life to her family and honoring God through art and music. She was born in Orange, NJ, but lived most of her life at the Shore, graduating from St. Rose High School in Belmar in 1963. She earned her undergraduate degree from Catholic University in Washington, DC, and earned her Masters of Fine Art there in 1968. Janet’s love of art emerged when she was a girl and inspired her throughout her life, culminating in a series of more than 150 paintings illustrating the Catholic Church’s three annual cycles of weekly Gospel readings. Her other artistic passion was music. Janet was a church organist for decades, beginning in her teens, and she taught countless piano students over the years. Janet was predeceased by her husband, Thomas, in 2002. She leaves her beloved children: Thomas Madigan (and wife Hilary Van Wagenen) of Cheverly, MD; Joseph Madigan (and wife Jodi) of Oakhurst, NJ; and Mary Beth Kolber (and husband Eric) of Point Pleasant Borough, NJ. Janet also leaves her brother, Joseph Schippert (and wife Barbara), of Alpharetta, GA, and her sister, Elizabeth Schippert (and husband Sven Widen), of Island Heights, NJ. But perhaps most of all, Janet leaves her amazing grandchildren: Cedar Jon, Aiden, Peter, Raeli, Ryan and Casey. Visitation will be at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35 at New Bedford Rd.,Wall, on Monday, November 29, 2021 from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Catharine Church, Spring Lake, on Tuesday, November 30, at 10:30 am, with burial to follow at St. Catharine Cemetery, Sea Girt.
