Jacqueline Rae Sipe Mount Gilead, Ohio Obituary

Jacqueline Rae Sipe

Jacqueline Rae “Jackie” Sipe, age 88, of Lancaster and formerly Mount Gilead, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, November 23, 2021. She was born in Ohio on July 21, 1933, to the late Avery Everett  and Zimrode Margaret (Courtney) Hollanshed.  Jackie graduated from Cardington High School. Finding true love, Jackie married Donald Eugene “Don” Sipe on September 27, 1953.  After high school Jackie worked in her parent’s restaurant in Waldo, OH called Holly's Restaurant.  Don was in the Army during this time. Jackie was a mother and homemaker first but she also worked part time outside the home.  She worked for several years at the Union Store in Mt. Gilead. Later she went to work for the Morrow County Sheriff's Office as the cook for the prisoners where she retired from.  Donald was a welder by trade and worked for several companies as well as having his own welding shop in Edison.  He and Jackie later purchased DJ’s Drive Thru in Mt. Gilead and they ran that until Dons death in September of 1995.  Jackie moved to Lancaster, OH where she got an apartment in the Pershing House which is a complex for residents over 50.  She made many friends and started a card group that played cards several days a week as well as a weekly Bingo game. Occasionally the group met for dinner and a movie night.  She enjoyed many years there with her friends.  Last December she moved in with her oldest daughter after an illness that made it difficult for her to stay home alone.  She loved playing cards, spending time with her family, traveling, and spending time outdoors. Jackie was always up for an adventure. Her favorite place would be wherever her family was. She loved watching her grandchildren’s sports and activities. She enjoyed crochet, knitting, sewing, reading & watching sports or old westerns on TV. She will be remembered as a strong woman who enjoyed helping others, smart, caring, and loving.  Left to cherish her memory includes her children: Julia K. (Robert) Sipe Lust from Lancaster, OH, Eric Alan (Lori) Sipe from Mount Gilead, OH, and Deidra Irene (Danial) Sipe Long from Lancaster, OH; grandchildren: Jason Robert (Lisa) Scott of Lancaster, OH, Cody (Jamie) Sipe of Cardington, OH, Erica Ann Sipe of Luquillo, PR, Nicole Lynn (Percy) Sipe Rier of Luquillo, PR, Ethan Charles Long of Lancaster, OH, and Evan Travis Long of Linn, MO; and great grandchildren: Owen Lee Scott of Lancaster, OH, Sarah Jane Scott of Lancaster, OH, Bryan Sipe of Cardington, OH, Blake Sipe of Cardington, OH, and Percy Rier Sipe of Luquillo, PR. Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, Don; a daughter, Jenny Lynn Sipe; parents: Avery and Zimrode; and siblings: Marie Jones, Mary Ward, Dean Hollanshed, and Avery Hollanshed. Her family will greet friends from NOON to 2 PM, on Friday, November 26, 2021, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel. (67 N. I worked with Jackie at The Union, usually in the material. She inspired me to start sewing. I loved Jackie's personality!! I truly wish I had known she was living in Lancaster. What a wonderful person!
