Ann G Hahn Bainbridge Island, Washington Obituary

Ann G Hahn

Ann G. Hahn September 9, 1936 - November 23, 2021 Ann G. Hahn passed away November 23, surrounded by family. As they reminisced together about old days on Bainbridge, Ann slipped quietly out of this life. Ann was born to Margaret (Ditter) and William Dills in Yakima, Washington. She and her family relocated to Bainbridge Island where she spent the majority of her life. After graduating from Bainbridge High School, Ann went on to Washington College in Pullman. She was obliged to leave after one year, but remained a faithful Cougar for the remainder of her life. Ann married a Bainbridge boy, George Robert Hahn, and they had four children. While George was often in Alaska working, Ann kept the family by managing the Martinique Restaurant, long gone now, but for some time the only family restaurant on the island. Many a Bainbridge kid got summer jobs working for Ann, either washing dishes or bussing tables. She essentially taught herself how to manage a diverse staff. It is this adaptability that epitomizes Ann’s life, she took on tasks that were daunting, but she found a way to master each challenge. Ann and George eventually divorced, but maintained a cordial relationship. George has predeceased Ann. Ann was also predeceased by her eldest son, Michael Joseph Hahn. Mike leaves a son, Joseph Michael. She is survived by three children, Vicki Wright (Mike), Shelle Bjolstad (Bob) and Rocky Hahn (Niki). Her grandchildren include Vicki’s daughters, Allie Gillespie and Kellie Nimmer; Shelle’s daughter, Brianna Bjolstad, and Rocky’s daughters Cierra and Paige Hahn. She is also survived by one greatgranddhild, Cowen Nimmer. Ann is also survived by her two sisters, Joan Clough and Lynn Mortensen, along with Lynn’s children Hugh, Matthew and Sarah. Ann’s many interests included her garden, collecting beautiful rocks, and assembling untold jigsaw puzzles. As her health failed, she resorted in finding entertainment in her birds and squirrels. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery, Monday, November 29. Arrangements are entrusted to the Cook Family Funeral Home of Bainbridge Island, WA.
