Virginia Lou Buffington was born April 26, 1937 in Columbus Junction, the daughter of Reid and Lula (Hill) Buffington.  She was united in marriage to Dalford Barrick on September 25, 1960 in Wapello.  In her earlier years, she helped on the farm and tended to a rather impressive garden used for canning each year. In addition, Virginia worked at Lutheran Living as a nursing secretary, CNA and Medication Aide for many years.  Being of strong faith, she was a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church.  In addition to serving as a Deacon and Elder, she enjoyed having coffee with other members of the church and having “dinner with the girls.” At home, she was often tuned into any Hawkeye game she could find and happily reported the score to everyone.  One thing remembered by all was her love of sending cards. It was important that she honored all the people she loved by reminding them with cards on birthdays, holidays, or just because.  Virginia was a savvy card player and took puzzles rather seriously. At the end of the day, she most enjoyed being with her family and attending her grandchildren’s events.

Virginia will be deeply missed by her children, Sam (Jenny) Barrick of Sheridan, IN, Denise (Troy) Ness of Muscatine; grandchildren, Hannah, Callan, Lexie, Ridge, Rebecca and Rachel; one great-grandchild; siblings, Les (Patricia) Buffington of Buffalo, Mildred (Dean) Van Acker of Muscatine, Keith (Linda) Buffington of St. Charles, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandchild, Ryan; brothers, Allen, Darryl, Paul, Benny Buffington and sisters, Judy Weise and Carolyn Weillbrenner.
