Glynda Jo Edwards, 65, went home to be with the Lord in the early morning hours on Wednesday, November 24, 2021. She was a beloved sister, mother, grandmother and a faithful Christian. She loved her family, friends, church family, her community and the Lord with all her heart. Glynda was a true giver, she loved bringing a smile to everyone’s face. A native of Sneads, Florida, she was born on March 31, 1956, in Marianna Florida. She attended Sneads High School and earned her Nursing Degree from Chipola College. She was a registered nurse and retired from the Florida Department of Corrections on October 1, 2013. She was a lifetime member of the Sneads First United Methodist Church. She served the church in multiple capacities including President of the Women’s Club, participating in the hand bell choir, leading children classes, working in the kitchen, and anything else that was needed. She was a woman of great faith and a tireless volunteer. She is survived by three sons, Toby Edwards (wife Sara) of Sneads, Michael Dykes of Sneads and Jay Cox (wife Jaime) of Tallahassee; one sister, Rhonda Dykes (husband Charles) of Sneads; four grandchildren, Reid and Keller Cox, Harmany Capps and Amber Dykes; two great grandchildren, Legend and Izobella Summerlin; two uncles, Guy Edwards (wife Fay) and Bobby Edwards; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and her beloved church family. Flowers are welcomed or if you wish, the family is asking for donations in memory of Glynda to the Sneads First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be on Friday, November 26, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM CST at McAlpin Funeral Home in Sneads. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, November 27, at 10:00 AM CST at the Sneads First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Pope Cemetery.
