Mr. Charles Eugene Gordon, 86, of Mont Alto, PA, passed away Sunday, November 21, 2021 in his home following a two-year battle with cancer. Born February 4, 1935 in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of the late Chester Charles and Victoria May (Schildknecht) Gordon. Mr. Gordon was a graduate of Waynesboro Area High School in 1953 and then completed his journeyman machinist trade with Landis Tool Company. In 1957, he was drafted into the United States Army where he served as a ballistic missile systems technician until his honorable discharge in 1959. He subsequently began a career with the Dept. of Defense at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, PA where he ultimately served in Depot Systems Engineering. He retired in September 1994 after 36 ½ years of service. Mr. Gordon was a member of Mont Alto United Methodist Church and Mont Alto Senior Center. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mrs. Mary L. (Jones) Gordon, whom he married July 28, 1956; son, Michael E. Gordon and his wife, Jodie of Smithfield, VA; daughter, Lisa S. (Gordon) deSalis and her husband, John Luekenbach, of Chambersburg; two grandsons, Jonathan deSalis and his wife, Ashley and Joseph deSalis; and twin great-grandchildren, Jonah and Amelia deSalis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Frenz. A Celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.
